College Prospectus - Have your say
by S Williams - Friday, 26 June 2009, 12:00 PM
We are starting to design our new prospectus and are interested in what staff and students consider are the best things about the college. We would like to include quotes from staff and students; if you could email me with what you like about the college and we will print a selection in our new prospectus. Students who are quoted will also be entered into raffle with the chance to win an ipod or digital camera.

regards,

Mr Williams

Top Link Sports Event
by A chambers - Thursday, 25 June 2009, 06:35 PM
Top Link is a nationwide leadership programme where young leaders plan, organise and deliver sports festivals with the guidance of a teacher. This year Emily Evison, Charles Baker, Amy Longhurst and Joe Stafford have undertaken this project and done a brilliant job.

These 4 sporting ambassadors visited the primary schools and initiated an Olympic project with the Yr 6 children. All children submitted an Olympic picture. The young ambassadors picked some out to display on a cloth flag at the festivals and the rest were displayed in the sports hall.

Whissendine, Langham and Brooke Hill came to VCC on Tues 23rd June for their day, all year sixes attended and competed in mixed teams. Oakham Cof E, Southfield and English Martyrs came on Wed 24th June. The children participated in tennis, cricket, dodge ball, basketball and a fitness circuit with a fun obstacle race at the end. The festival was delivered by 45 sports leaders over the 2 days who did a fantastic job.

The feedback from primary children, sports leaders and teachers was very positive and all involved should feel very proud.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award
by j green - Thursday, 25 June 2009, 06:14 PM
On the 13/14th June and 20/21st June, 33 students completed their Bronze Practice Venture for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, in the Charnwood area of Leicestershire. This was the first venture undertaken at the end of almost a year of training and all attained a very high standard of achievement. Everyone walked an average of 24km/14miles over the two days with an overnight camp at Beaumanor Hall, and finished weary, but elated. We look forward to the Qualifying Venture in September/October this year.

All students were a credit to the Vale of Catmose College and A6 Awards.

All assemblies will take place in the Theatre (except Red on Thursday which will be in the Sports Hall). You will need to register with your form tutor before attending the husting.

  • What contribution you will make to the House System.

Congratulations
by D Powell - Thursday, 25 June 2009, 10:54 AM
In March we held our 5th Spotlight on Dance Show and as a result Ruth Bates, the Leicestershire Development Officer for Dance was so impressed with one of our groups, Baseline, that they were invited to attend Addicts Dance Show at the Peepul Centre in Leicester.

Only three guest groups were asked so the girls were really honoured and it was a credit not only to their talent but the hours of hard work perfecting the dance. Addict is the very successful dance company, which is based at Leicester College and regularly put on performances including which includes beginners to professional dancers. Ruth Bates is also a member of the Rutland Dance steering group and with her help it is hoped that more students will become involved in dance in Rutland.

Congratulations to Hayleigh Twose, Hayley Carmichael, Brittany Wade, Nicole Whitefield and Becki Smith.
